Private Grants Received
First Generation College Bound thanks two philanthropic funds for their support to FGCB programs in 2010.
The National Harbor Community Outreach Fund has awarded FGCB a $10,000 grant to help expand our services from our current five Prince George’s County high schools to nine high schools by 2012. The money also will help fund a college retention specialist who will provide support for FGCB alumni who have entered college. The National Harbor Fund was created in 2007 by The Peterson Companies, developer of the National Harbor project. The fund disburses $350,000 a year to community, civic, religious, educational and recreational organizations that serve residents of Prince George’s County.
The Black Benefactors BPA Fund has awarded FGCB a $3,500 grant for its general operations. The Black Benefactors is a social investment club in the Washington, D.C., area comprised of individual members, local businesses and organizations dedicated to addressing societal ills facing the African American community.
