Mercedes Kamara

College Access Coach


Mercedes Kamara was born and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland. She is a 2010 graduate of the former Forestville Military Academy in District Heights, Maryland. After graduation, she continued her studies at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Harding University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Education, accordingly. Mercedes has a passion for youth and disadvantaged communities. Following her masters, she pursued teaching as a career in the Prince George’s County public school system. She also works for Tippi Toes Dance Company, Inc. as a youth dance instructor where she can display her talent in the area of dance.

Mercedes joined the First Generation College Bound team as a College Success Coach. In 2020 she became a Certified Life Coach. Most recently, she launched Unique Coaching Services with the heart to see people at their fullest potential. As a Life Coach, she identifies roadblocks that may be hindering a person from reaching their goals. Mercedes enjoys working with youth and inspiring others to become the best version of themselves. She is a proud member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, Inc. One quote that she loves is, “the struggles along the way are only meant to shape you for your purpose.”
