FGCB Documentary Screening Draws Community Support
On April 28, FGCB welcomed more than 120 community members to Greenbelt Cinema for a screening of First Generation College Bound: 33 Years and Counting. With 179 people registered for the event, attendees gathered to celebrate FGCB’s impact and hear directly from Executive Director Joe Fisher, and the film’s director, Tico Wells during a post-screening conversation.
Due to the strong community response, a second screening will be held on June 25 in Laurel.
FGCB Celebrates 36 Years of Student Success
On June 10th First Generation College Bound will hold its 36th Annual Celebration, bringing together students, alumni, families, educators, supporters, and community leaders to honor the organization’s longstanding commitment to helping first-generation students access and complete college.
The event will highlight the achievements of FGCB students and alumni while reflecting on more than three decades of impact across Prince George’s County and beyond. It is an evening of inspiring stories of perseverance, leadership, and educational achievement, including remarks from FGCB alumni whose lives have been shaped by the organization’s mission.

College Access School Sites
FGCB partners with nine high schools in Prince George’s County to provide targeted, on-site college access support to expand opportunity for students with the greatest financial need. We work directly within these school communities to help students prepare for, enroll in, and complete college. – This language should be anywhere where the Find Your School box is located. I assume changing it once will change it in any footer where it appears.
The teachers at the (FGCB) Homework Club are wonderful. They helped my daughter, Ashley, a lot in subjects such as history. She brought her grades up to B’s, and now she’s receiving A’s. Ashley has gotten a full ride to McDaniel College.
