Michael Wood, Chair, Governance Committee

Michael L. Wood serves as Chair of the Governance Committee for First Generation College Bound. A longtime member of the committee, he has played a key role in strengthening FGCB’s board governance by helping update the organization’s bylaws, develop an online board manual, launch a board recruitment website, and establish systems and tools that support effective board operations.

Michael brings extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, grant management, and learning and development. He previously served as Director of Learning and Team Development at Management Leadership for Tomorrow and held several leadership roles at Goodwill Industries International. Most recently, he worked as a Grants Manager with AmeriCorps. Michael holds a B.A. in English from the Virginia Military Institute.
