Justine Wood, College Access Coach, Parkdale High School

Justine Wood has served as a College Access Coach for Duval High School for four years and is excited in her position at Parkdale High School because it has created an opportunity to meet many new students and families! She loves to talk to students about their dreams for college and the future because it is fun to imagine all that education can offer. Justine grew up in Maryland and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Education from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. She has been serving teens and children for over a decade in different settings. She has led backpacking trips for middle schools in upstate New York and art workshops for teens in Michigan. She also worked in a Spanish-immersion infant and toddler classroom for a year in Michigan.

In Maryland, she served teens from Central America through an afterschool program with CASA de Maryland before working with First Generation College Bound. She also recently became certified as an Inline Skating Coach and teaches introductory rollerblading lessons on the weekend. She hopes to encourage her students to seize opportunities that make them feel fulfilled and continue to grow in her own abilities to assist people and promote education.

Fun Fact:

Justine is learning how to make earrings and necklaces.
