First Generation College Bound

When I was growing up in the housing projects, nobody said “college is not for everyone.” Our schools offered vocational education and career training that prepared students for real jobs. Today the phrase is everywhere, just as many of those options have disappeared.

In my latest article, I look at why the real question isn’t whether college is for everyone, but whether every student has meaningful choices—and the information, resources, and support to make them.
