Josue Melgar was born in Silver Spring, Maryland. Josue attended High Point High School, where he learned the value of an education and the importance of impact. Two teachers at High Point altered the course of his education by challenging Josue every day in his classes. Josue continued his education at Prince George’s Community College, earning an Associate’s degree in Psychology and later earning his Bachelor’s degree in Family Science at the University of Maryland College Park. After graduation, Josue began working with CASA de Maryland, where he worked in the afterschool program called Mi Espacio, working with high school students.
Because of the impact his two high school teachers left on him, Josue joined First Generation College Bound in hopes of leaving an impact on the youth to pursue higher education. Josue hopes to see more students become the first in their families to get a college degree as he was the first in his family to do so.
